With hard disks capacity almost doubling each year and more and more content added to them, file management became a difficult task.
Manually searching and managing files is a nightmare, so a program to do this will greatly help.
As it is stated in its name, Duplicate File Finder is such an application, it helps us to find and remove duplicates from our computer.
Very easy to install and use, Duplicate File Finder works in wizard mode, having few steps to complete in order to find the duplicates. Firstly, you have to select the folders to be scanned. Next step is to set the matching criteria for the search. Name, date, and time or size can be used for this, but in order to be sure of the results I recommend Match contents option. This will take more time, but the search is for MD5 checksums, which are unique for each file, so you can be pretty sure of the results. As additional search options you can chose to ignore files smaller than a certain size or to focus only on some file types, like images, archives, video or audio files and applications.
The results are displayed in a very manageable way. You are able to click on files and open them, select a certain file to see its duplicate, or to open a folder directly from the results page.
All these options make Duplicate File Finder both useful and easy to use, not to mention that is free.
